As the Civil War unfolds, one
family prepares to embark on a harrowing journey. Based on a
true story, Thomas Tiernan weaves together the life of Mrs.
Lydia Bixby and her sons, chronicling the lives of a family
under the siege of war. With no end in sight to the staggering
losses suffered on the battlefield, her sons face their own
mortality while Mrs. Bixby is forced to struggle with the
emotional anguish of war within her own household. As she
contemplates the horrors of losing her sons, her creativity is
breathed into life, creating the classic poem, THE LAST OF SIX.
This absorbing tale, based on the commonly believed
genesis of the actual poem, will draw you into the tragic world
of a family destined for oblivion.
