Two families of spiders, the
Websters and the Silksmiths share the attic in an old, Victorian
house. Harry Silksmith, the arrogant father and his wife Spinera
are stricken when their baby is born missing one appendage. The
two families join forces to find the eminent Dr. Threads. This
brilliant scientist lives in the basement and may be able to
help the hatchling. The Silksmiths and Websters must overcome
their differences and battle the many adversities they
encounter.
The spider’s lives are in
further danger when they become entangled with the Anderson
family, who also live in the old house. Donald Anderson is
constantly pestering his younger sister Susan and hatches a plot
to sabotage her science project. He is surprised when the plan
backfires.
During the spider’s journey,
the Webster’s only child Spinner is in grave danger when he is
captured by Donald. Spinner had been taught when in danger Stop,
Drop and CURL UP! Will this be enough to save his life?
What sets this work apart and
makes it unique is that throughout the novel the reader is not
only entertained but is also educated. The reader learns
information about spiders, their anatomy, habits and lifestyle
in an amusing tale of bravery and fellowship. Follow these two
families on their quest to help the hatchling.
