If you love everything
baseball, you’ll want to pick up a copy of Phillies
Journal 1888-2008 by author Max Blue.
Get ready to laugh out
loud as writer Max Blue pays homage to what he refers to as
the “baseball gods” and his beloved Phillies. Opening this
book is like opening night at the World Series!
Included in Blue’s
humorous book: a play-by-play account of the 1915 Phillies-Red
Sox World Series; a pitch-by-pitch account of Grover
Cleveland Alexander’s 1916 season when he won 32 games for
the Phillies, including 16 shutouts; and a summary of the
1922 Wrigley Field game: Cubs 26, Phillies 23 – the highest
scoring nine inning game in Major League history.
With wit and insight,
Blue delivers a jam-packed account of milestones, rundowns,
and nearly 1,000 limericks regaling the team, its players
and legendary games. Relive the glory days of baseball!
Blue will take you out to the ballgame and you’ll be glad
you took this nostalgic journey to what he describes as “a
mystical love for this green field in the sun.”

Review
"Max
Blue is first and foremost a baseball fan. His love of
the game comes through with his spot-on account of
Phillies baseball laced with a great sense of humor.
When Blue moved to Philadelphia in the early 90s he
began writing about the Phillies and now has published
PHILLIES JOURNAL 1888-2008, a book dotted with early
Phillies history, but primarily featuring more than
1,000 limericks about Phillies' games beginning with
Lenny Dykstra and ending with the glorious 2008
championship season.
I like this book."
