Louis (Lou) Richard entered
the ICT industry in the 1960s when he left school teaching to
join IBM Australia. Lou's career has included roles as chief
executive of Computer Resources Group (Australia's largest
indigenous ICT company in the 1970s and 1980s), founder and
managing director of the highly successful ATAC Group, executive
chairman of FEE Group (UK), general manager business development
at ASX listed Computer Power Group and director of marketing for
ICL Asia Pacific. Inspired by Broadview Associates, a leading US
ICT mergers and acquisitions shop in the 1980s, Lou established
Newport Capital in 1989. Newport Capital is Australia's stand
out technology oriented mergers and acquisitions and advisory
shop. Lou's work at Newport Capital has seen him lead road shows
to the US, raise capital in Thailand, pitch to the European and
Taiwanese investors for Newport's funds management operations,
and buy a Finnish company for an Australian client.
