Swedish born journalist
Gunilla Miranda shares a shocking story of how she survived
eight years of living in fear with a husband suffering from
mental illness. Now a successful businesswoman running her own
company, Gunilla gives insight and hope to others who are in a
similar situation.
Cowering in the small kitchen
cupboard of her new Australian home, Gunilla listened in terror
to the footsteps of her approaching husband. In less than three
weeks he had turned from a warm, generous and caring lover into
an abusive and terrifying madman. A modern-day Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde, her husband suffered from bipolar disorder and was as
much a threat to himself as he was to her.
Trying to avoid the brunt of
her husband’s illness while struggling to raise her son in a
foreign country, Gunilla eventually found the courage and
strength to escape from this threat she had never planned for,
had no defense against and could never have anticipated as part
of her life.
It is a story fully of
opposites; Northern and Southern hemisphere, wealth and poverty,
love and horror, and failure and success. AND IT IS A TRUE
STORY.
From Nobel Prize to Ride on
Mower is a
powerful memoir that illustrates what the human spirit can both
endure and create.
