Bryan MacKay is a man who should have lived before his time. A martial artist, survivalist, and student of military tactics, Bryan is out of sync with modern times where these special skills aren’t necessary for daily survival. Following hypnosis for minor dental surgery, Bryan awakens naked on a hillside in a distant past, drawn there by the powers of an ancient Cheyenne mystic.

Bryan is called upon to help “The People” prepare to resist oppressors from the east. Thrust into an unknown, but familiar world, he overcomes adversity, discovers friendship, romance and purpose. Surprised to learn that he isn’t the only ‘visitor’ from another time and place, Bryan and the woman he comes to love, set out to find the others in order to learn the reasons for these visits ... and what the future holds for all of them.

“Bryan MacKay is a composite of a number of people I have known over the years,” says author John David Fenner. “The character’s passage through the Spirit World into the pre-Columbian world of “The People” will be chronicled in a series to of adventures intended to disclose the life amongst the Indians before European exploration.” Fenner is currently working on the sequel to Before His Time. Also in the works is A Russian Woman, the true-life story of his internet meeting, romance, trips to Eastern Europe and marriage to Tanya-the-Beautiful, an architect from Siberia living in Moldova.
